World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

WIPO is an UN agency that deals with patents, trademarks, as well as protection of design, geographical indications and copyright. In addition, committees discuss on genetic resources, traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expression and its protection in intellectual property law. WIPO administrates 26 Treaties. WIPOs predecessor BIRPI (United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property) adopted WIPO Convention in 1967. The Mission collaborates regarding WIPO, with the Ministry of Justice and the Patent Office.
